Welcome our newest sponsor mudpuppy

We have a ton of birthday parties coming up in the next few months and I wanted to find gifts that were educational and unique. While searching I found the site mudpuppy which is a fantastic page full of award winning and educational toys. My daughter has the Painter's Palette Constructibles Building Set which received the iParenting Outstanding Products Award; Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award 2009. Each piece has the color wrote on the piece which is fantastic for word recognition. My daughter loves that they are not like traditional Lego's and she can easily change the shape without struggle. In addition to being fun and a creative outlet, Constructibles Building Sets improve hand-eye coordination, develop fine motor skills, and reinforce principles of balance and spatial relationships. Galison offers many different products for all ages including adults.
Want to win? One lucky reader will win their very own set of Painter's Palette Constructibles Building Set. Contest ends 5/6/11-open to US residents. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

Celebrate Mother's Day in style!

I am a huge fan of the classic look of pearls but I have a hard time finding something trendy. So began the search for a trendy designer that focused on elegance and of course pearls. The led me to Shandy Nicole Designs- her jewelry is not only the staple of elegance it uses pearls and focuses on trends both past and presents. I love the feeling of being able to wear something classic with a twist! I have had the pleasure of reviewing the gorgeous pearl necklace shown below and it really does go with everything. I wore a black tank and white cardigan with jeans and received many compliments on my necklace. The best part-it has withstood my jewelry thief of a toddler. The necklace is very versatile and can be worn long or doubled as a shorted necklace. Last week we had a nice day and I even looped it several times as a bracelet. If you are anything like me and need something to make your wardrobe pop the jewelry at Shandy Nicole Design can add just what was missing. Her shop has been opened for some time and she has 100% positive feedback. Be sure to take a look around her jewelry is very well priced and is great quality.

Want to win? One lucky reader will win the pearl necklace shown. Contest ends 5/4/11-open to US residents. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each entry.

The sun is shining-wish we were at the beach!

I am super excited for summer this year-my little one will be two and loves the sand & water which means tons of time on the beach! Last year we did not go as much because she was so tiny and there was not a great way to cover her from the sun-well the problem is solved this year....introducing the UV Sun Stop'r Kwik Cabana which can be purchased at KidSafe.  The KidSafe site offers everything you would need for your little one...they even have things you would not think of buying until you see them! Case in point they have a handrail for the stairs to help your baby transition to stair climbing easier. I did not even know that products like this were available but they have made our lives that much easier! We love our UV Sun Stop'r Kwik Cabana- it is super easy to set up and take apart with the unique patented mechanism for easy opening and closing. It comes in a great carrying bag and is very light weight. Since it has been raining the past few days we have set the tent up and our daughter has used it as a playtent. Once the sun is shining I will be eager to go outside with our tent since it has excellent sun protection provided by tested material rated 50+ SPF which means no harmful UV rays on little miss! The side panels roll up easily so you can let the wind in or have them down for a nap on teh go-it is an overall great product that is a must for the summer!

Want to win? One lucky reader will win their very own UV Sun Stop'r Kwik Cabana! Contest ends 5/5/11-open to US residents. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

Looking for a great mother's day gift?

Every year I am sure to pass along mother's day gift ideas to my husband just in case he needs a little help :) This year my etsy store of choice is Sophia Pip. Here is a little more about the shop, "Sophia Pip is a shop for people who appreciate beautiful, handcrafted jewelry that can be worn everyday. "Casual elegance" is a theme I try to pursue in my work. I focus mostly on designs that are SIMPLE and UNDERSTATED. Quality craftsmanship is also of immense importance to me. I work mostly with Sterling Silver, copper, and brass, occasionally with 14K GF. High quality and/or unusual gemstones, organically shaped sea glass, high lustre baroque pearls, vintage beads, and handcrafted ceramic pieces are often used for accents. Simplicity is always the theme. I make everything from the basics to the more involved ... a variety to keep things interesting".  I have the fantastic studs shown below and let me tell you that they look good with everything! I have worn them with a solid white tank and jeans which add just the right touch of elegance to dress it up just enough. The studs are very unique and I have received many comments on my earrings. Take a look around the shop-there is something for everyone including personalized jewelry just in time for mother's day!

Looking for a unique gift?

I am amazed by the creativity of our newest sponsor-Artsy Fartsy Mommy! She has some of the most creative soaps I have ever come across!
Look at this amazing and creative fish in a bag soap (photo to the right)! My daughter is having a summer party for preschool soon and I think these will make a perfect take home treat! Our daughter is in the wash herself phase and we needed to find soap that she could easily hold and would enjoy using....Artsy Fartsy Mommy has so many choices! Here is a little more about our sponsor, "A 40 something mamma with 3 children and hubby, who loves artsy fartsy things and cultural experiences. I have soooo many interests but so little time. Inspired by others who express themselves with the arts and also those who are happy and positive". We have a puppy soap and an egg crayon. The soap has been perfect for my daughter to hold the head and wash her body-plus it has lasted and smells great! The crayon is very easy for my daughter to use and she loves that it is an oval which seems to be the shape of choice these days. If you are looking for fresh, handmade, products be sure to look around her etsy site... I could not be more pleased!
Want to win? One lucky person will win their own puppy soap- choice of Dalmatian or cocker spaniel (robin egg blue bottom). Contest ends 4/26/11. Open to US residents-please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

Welcome our newest sponsor The Happy Hoot!

Have you noticed that owls are everywhere these days? My daughter is only two and she is obsessed with owls! We have owl bedding, stuffed toys, and even an owl inspired playroom. As I was creating her owl room I wanted everything to match. Well that is when I discovered The Happy Hoot. It is an amazing etsy shop that focuses on everything owl. We have an owl bow holder for my daughters wall and it is perfect! I originally had a hard time finding a bow holder because her old one had skinny little ribbon and all the bows slipped down to the bottom. Our new owl bow holder not only fits her room perfectly it has the perfect ribbon to hold the bows in place! If the bow does slip to the bottom (this has not happened) there is an adorable little heart sewn on the bottom so the clip won't fall to the floor-this is very important in my house since I have a pup that thinks once something is on the floor it belongs to him! The bow holder has held up to my daughter yanking it out off the hook and being squeezed and smooched beyond belief. If you have a little one that is also in the owl phase be sure to look around-all of her things are very reasonable and she is a pleasant, easy to work with, etsy shop owner!

Want to win? One lucky reader will win an owl bow holder of their very own (sponsor choice). Contest ends 4/26/11-open to US residents. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

Perfect gift for Easter

Are you looking for something unique to fill the Easter basket? Look no further than Kaleidoscopes to You. We had the privilege of reviewing the kaleidoscope shown below and i was so impressed with the durability. As  some of you can relate when a two year old cannot figure something out they tend to throw whatever it may be. This particular kaleidoscope is very durable and built to last-not to mention it comes at a very affordable price. My daughter loves taking it out in the sunshine and twisting it to watch all the shapes come to life. The company offers great customer service and even specializes in handmade kaleidoscopes. My daughter loves to try to make different shapes and it really helps her practice her colors. I find Kaleidoscopes to be a must in everyone's toy box since it is a toy that has lasted the test of time and still makes children smile. Take a look around the site-there are so many different choices including necklaces and collectibles!
Want to win? One lucky reader will win the same Kaleidoscope we received. Contest ends 4/25/11-open to US residents. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

Disney adventures continue!

We are going to be heading to Disney soon which means we need to get all of our "Disney gear" before we leave. Now I am not prepared to pay over $75 dollars for a costume that my daughter will wear once to a Disney breakfast so I have been on the hunt for something affordable and high quality. Lucky me I have found Costume Discounters that sell amazing girl's costumes. They offer a very large selection of Disney costumes and we were able to find each character that my daughter wanted at a fraction of the price. Not only are the costumes great for a trip to Disney but will come in handy for all of the princes themed birthday parties and Halloween! In the end we decided on a Minnie Mouse costume that will be perfect for breakfast with Mickey! The costume arrived very quickly and was much more than I expected. The ears were in perfect condition and have become my daughter's favorite headband. The dress looked just like Minnie Mouse and the quality of the stitching was perfect-this costume is built to last! Here is our Minnie Mouse costume-looking forward to finding myself and my husband a costume at Halloween!

Summer is approaching-time to buy a sunhat!

Welcome our newest sponsor threds by bev! In my quest for an adorable sunhat for my daughter I stumbled across her etsy page. Threds by Bev has a little something for everyone as she makes children's items and adult clothes. Here is a little more about our sponsor, "I began sewing when I was in Grammar school, making things for myself, my girlfriends and my dolls. My patterns and fabrics were packed away for many years while I raised three fantastic kids. Recently I have dusted off my machine and rediscovered my passion for fabrics and design. I hope you like it...I'm having fun!" We have an adorable sun that is made from a brown fabric with flowers & apples. The quality of the stitching is incredible. I love the hat because there is not a strap to hold it in place. If you have a toddler anything like mine you know how hard they fight with the chin straps. My daughter loves to wear hats but hats things to be tied down to this hat is perfect with no strings attached. If you are looking for a local business to find something for yourself or your child get in touch with Threds by Bev!
Want to win? One lucky reader will win a infant sun hat (ages 0-1yr). Contest ends 4/19/11-open to the US. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

Sping into summer in style!

I would like to introduce PG Clothing. As you know I love to dress my daughter in handmade one of a kind clothes...not only does it support local designers it also helps my daughter spread her fashion wings! She is only two but loves to pick out all of her own clothes which is amazing-future fashion designer on our hands? In our search for quality spring skirts we came across Peppergrass by PG clothing and fell in love. Here is a little more about our sponsor, "I am a stay at home mom of three boys. I like to make girl cloths to get my girl out. I also like to see how happy my boys and others get when I make them something that they like. When ever I go into a fabric store that has wonderful material it is hard for me to just buy what I came in for, I usually get carried away". The shop mixes & matches such fantastic material and patterns. We have the adorable skirt shown below and my daughter loves the balls that were used as the trim. As you look around the site make note of the fabric choices and designs that come to life with such an artistic style! We have washed our skirt many times and it still has the same quality as the day it arrived in the mail. Even if you do not have a little girl the site offers many choices for boys including ties.  Take a look around as I am sure you will find just what you are looking for!

Want to win? One lucky reader will win a skirt of their choice up to $20 (including a custom skirt). Contest ends 4/19/11. Open to US residents-please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

Great cup for carpeting

This weekend I decided to clean the carpet and it was a project! Every child that ever comes to my house has to use a sippy cup if they want to leave the kitchen but for some reason this does not prevent spills. I find that sippy cups tend to leak over time and the older kids refuse to drink out of them. Well i found a great Solution to prevent the spills without using a "baby cup". Contigo makes a great cup call the trekker. It is perfect for kids that have outgrown sippy cups but still need something leak proof. The trekker uses AUTOSEAL® technology to prevent accidental spills. Just press the button to sip and release the button to automatically seal. These kids cups are perfect for kids on-the-go, in the car, or in school lunches. Trekker cups are great for kids 4-12 and they are 100% BPA free! I love that my carpets stay clean and all the little juice drinking kiddos stay happy! The cups are very reasonably priced and come in a great variety of colors. If you have carpets full or juice, milk, and who knows what then a trekker cup is made for you!
Want to win? One lucky person will win a trekker cup (sponsors choice). Contest is open to US residents-contest ends 4/18/11. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

Welcom Cahootie!

What is a Cahootie? Remember the homemade folded paper fortune teller game we all played as kids? Cahootie's award winning products have been developed to expand upon and enhance this timeless and iconic game that children have played around the world for generations to deliver fun, learning and connection among Tweens (kids ages 7-12) and their families and friends. Cahootie has a bunch of great designs including an animal planet line. Cahootie also provides a safe place online for kids to chat, blog, decorate avatars and interact in a safe situation. We had a chance to review a Cahootie and my daughter & neighbor were hooked. It was so fun to hear them giggle and whisper about how the paper was predicting their future...oh the memories of being so young and carefree. Cahooti can be purchased at Justice stores, select Hallmark stores, select Learning Express stores, and independent toy and gift retailers nationwide. You can also find Cahootie on Amazon.com and Toysrus.com. If you need an additional gift for the Easter basket or are planning on traveling this summer I would invest in a Cahootie...there is nothing like a peaceful car ride because the kids have a quiet toy that will entertain them for yours.

Want to win? One lucky person will win a Cahootie (sponsors choice) Contest is open to US residents-contest ends 4/17/11. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each entry.

BBQ Season is right around the corner are you ready? 2 winners!

I love spring & summer party season! I work hard on my garden and love to have people over to show off all my hard work. There is only one draw back to parties-the clean up! With my daughter's birthday fast approaching I had to find something better than a box lined with a trash bag...not only does it attract bugs but it gets full very quickly. To my amazement there is a practical party bin (also a great bin for around the house & anytime). Flings party bins make social gathering super easy. We received two bins and you simply pop them up and tie them when done. I don't have to wrestle with a trash can to get the bag loose or watch the bottom of a box fall out from the weight of the garbage. The bins are 13 gallons and come in many varieties including party themed. Flings also carries a recycle bag line which is also great for all the cans that will accumulate at the birthday party. We used our flings trash bag in the kitchen and it was amazing how easy and practical the bag was to use. When we were done the bag simply was tied off and thrown in the trash making garbage time a breeze. Look at the photo below to see the full bag tied off and ready for the trash:
Want to win? Two lucky readers will win 2 flings (sponsors choice). Contest ends 4/14/11-contest open to the US-please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

Welcome Precious Promises

Does your child have a lovie or stuffed toy that they need to sleep with every night? My daughter has two-a little stuffed dog and a ratty bear blanket. Every day at nap time and bedtime the hunt is on to find her two little friends before she will get into bed. Well as you can imagine this makes traveling to Nana's more difficult because I know where she hides them at home but the search to find then at Nana's house takes forever....who knew an almost 2 year old could be so good at hiding things! Well we have finally found a solution to the missing bear issue-Precious Promises pillows. Here is a what our sponsor has to say about their product, "Are you tired of tidying up your child's bedroom? Have you ever lost your pyjamas behind your bed? These problems are solved with our pjpouch. How the pjpouch works: The unique pjpouch is simply a pillowcase that has a pouch added to the back. The pjpouch is opened by a zipper and is used to store pyjama’s, a special wrap or dummy also our Personalised Pal soft toy that comes with the package etc". Now every morning when my daughter wakes up we open her "pillow pouch" and put little bear & sid the dog to sleep until nap time. It has made our lives so much easier! The pillow is very soft and can be made in a variety of colors and names. We also received a soft doll that my daughter has added to her collection of babies that is a great addition to nap time. The pillowcase measures 47cm x 73cm, designed to fit the average sized pillow.
The Personalised Pal is around 15cm tall. It is designed to be big enough for children to cuddle and small enough to fit in the pouch comfortably, without being bulky. If you are always on the hunt for your child's special friend I would highly suggest investing in a precious promises pjpuch pillow.

Want to win? One lucky reader will win a pillow case (sponsors choice). Contest ends 4/14/11-open to US, Canada, Australia-please leave one comment per entry with a valid email per comment.

Introducing Alphabet Kids

We are always looking for great books in our house. I like to find books that teach life lessons with a nice background story in which my daughter can relate. During my quest I found Alphabet Kids. Here is what the company has to say about the series, " The Alphabet Kids follows the fun adventures of a group of diverse children who learn about their multicultural backgrounds.  Their stories help children to love who they are and realize that people who are different can be very good friends." We have the book Allegra's Apple Tree which teaches kids about the environment. In the story the girl is very aware of wasting paper in class (kids are drawing on many sheets with total disregard for the amount) and teaches the class how to conserve. After reading the story many times after lunch my almost 2 year old has learned that paper has too sides and she says to me, "we draw on back too". I could not be more proud of her and am so grateful that there are still books out there that can teach a lesson by telling a great story. There are six characters in the set that teach a different lesson and come from a different background. I am eager to buy the other five for my little one as the graphics are fantastic and the story holds her attention.
Want to win? One lucky reader will win a book of their choice from the six in the series. Contest open until 4/13/11. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.

My True Nature Bath Products

My daughter has decided that she wants bubbles everywhere (and lots of them!) I was told by our pediatrician to be careful with high perfume bath products on toddlers so the search began for something natural. After many false leads I found My True Nature. The company was founded in 2008 by a mom that wanted to create something natural for her child while still working as well as mainstream bath products. I love that the company started so small! The owner (Kelly Boyd) sold products by word of mouth and slowly the company grew. My daughter loves the cartoons on the bottle (her favorite is a skunk) Each one of the products has their own character on the bottle with a distinctive personality and purpose. I am very impressed with the bath products and have used the shampoo/body wash myself to make sure it would not dry out my daughter's skin. The company has great customer service and $3.95 flat rate shipping-which is amazing! If you have a child with sensitive skin or just want something natural I would recommend My True Nature Bath products.

Want to win? One lucky reader will win a 4 oz. travel combo. Open to US residents-contest ends 4/12/11. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid comment in each entry.

Caroline G. Giveaway & Dealpulp Deal...Hurry ends tomorrow!

Welcome to our fabulous sponsor Caroline G! This shop has so much to offer...she has so many different bows available & adorable hair bow holders.  I have never seen spike bows before and was delighted when offered the chance to review a headband for my daughter.
This headband has been through it all over the past few weeks! It has been tugged, stepped one, and even closed in a car door. We just spot cleaned the ribbon and it still looks as fantastic as the day it arrived! My favorite thing about the headband is that it is durable but soft. It is not one of those hard plastic headbands which my daughter will not wear because they hurt so much. If you need an adorable bow for Easter or just because there is sure to be something to match every outfit in your little one's wardrobe! As an added bonus Caroline G. gives 10% of her sales to Girls Inc. so not only are you making your little princess happy you are also changing the life of another little girl.
Want to win? One lucky person will win a hair bow or headband of sponsors choice. Contest ends 4/10/11-open to US residents-please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in the entry.

Welcome Bummas!

As you have read we are really trying to reduce our waste output this year and save a little money in the process.  We are currently potty training but the flushable wipes give my daughter a horrible rash. She has a very sensitive bottom and I have literally been using wipes then air drying her tiny butt since she was born which was not always practical. I wish I had know about Bummas two year ago-they have literally changed our quality of life over the past few months.  Bummas are super soft clothes that can be used for a variety of problems. Here is the company saying:
After the wipe and before the dipe, A soft kiss of cloth to dry bums off. Keep diaper rash at bay, the Bummas way.
We have had our Bummas for awhile and have used them for multiple purposes. I keep two when we are out and about for potty time-I wet one in the sink to clean and then follow up with a dry cloth to get any moisture away from the skin. I also use our Bummas for snack/meal time-no more wipes for cleaning up sticky hands and they are just the right size. We used a washcloth in the past and my daughter hated the thing covering her whole face not to mention they were not the softest thing in the world. Recently I was out of tissues and we even used our Bummas as a tissue on the go. I am very surprised that they have lasted all of the washing and come out just as soft as the day they arrived. The clothes are made in the USA and are perfect for the environment!

Want to win? One lucky reader will win a set of Bummas of their choice. Contest is open to US residents-ends 4/10/11. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email in each comment.
