Do you have an American Girl fan?

So we have officially entered the world of American Girl's.  My daughter received her Molly for Christmas and we have been on the search for accessories. While looking for clothes I found Doll Clothes by Chun. The clothes are so reasonably priced and are made very well. We received the outfit below for Molly and it has withheld many changings by my almost two year old.  The site has 100% feedback and is highly recommend by me :)

Creating a future shoe lover

My daughter is very much into fashion (if you have been following along you have previously read about her bracelet obsession) and has found a new love for shoes.  Although she loves to wear her fancy shoes around the house I want her to be barefoot as much as possible (my doctor preaches that barefoot is best!) So I was on the hunt for a pair of shoes with style yet easy to move unlike her cat rain boots. Mom's Blankies has adorable shoopers in all different styles. Little Miss is in love with Minnie Mouse and anything pink so I have a ton of choices for something fancy yet practical.

Want to win? One lucky reader will win a pair of shoopers (size newborn-toddler 13) of their choice. Contest ends 3/7/11-Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email address in each comment

Being "green" in the toy room

I was at the store this morning and I had to return something when I noticed hanging by the registrar a bunch of toys being recalled for one reason or another-to make matters worse we owned half of the toys listed as dangerous because they were made with certain chemicals or a choking hazard. Along with my efforts to make my carbon footprint a little smaller I have decided to tackle the toy room to find safe products for my daughter. In my efforts I came across My Natural Baby Boutique. The online boutique is run by a mother/daughter team who were in search of great products for Eco conscious moms.  Here is a little more about what they have to say about their store
"We offer only certified organic cotton and all natural bamboo baby clothes and accessories, as well as eco-friendly non- toxic toys, all natural unique gifts for moms and so much more. Whether you are looking for an adorable 100% certified cotton onesie, softest blanket made out of all natural bamboo, teething jewelry that is safe for your baby or a PBA-free baby bottle with anti-colic nipple (what wouldn’t I give for these when my grandchildren were born!), you will find it on our site. The variety of our products makes it easy to create a gift basket for someone special in your life. We offer gift registry for new moms and gift certificates as an option for gift giving". I personally have shopped their toy section and have been more than pleased with the selection. We have the lion puzzle shown below for my daughter and she was so excited to actually get to decorate her own puzzle and it is easy for her to assemble.

More efforts to reduce waste

At the beginning of the year I challenged myself to cut the amount of waste my family makes in half. We have been doing an ok job but I am still on the lookout for great products! One of our biggest problems is bags-plastic grocery bags & snack bags.  I have found a great snack bag company that makes their products from recycled material. Bebeloosh Mini has a "store that is all about reduce, reuse, recycle.
By reusing our snack and lunch bags over and over again, we reduce the use of plastic bags. The fabric is a blend of recycled hemp and organic cotton. The shipping envelopes are made from recycled paper.
I am adding new designs constantly. Custom orders are welcome".  I personally have the cat bag shown below for my daughter and it has gone on many adventures with us while keeping the snack in the bag (I hate having a purse full of crumbs because the snack bag pops open!)
Want to Win? Bebeloosh Mini is offering one reader a set of three snack bags (winner chooses design) open to US residents-contest ends 3/6/11. Leave one comment per entry with an email in the entry (if your email is not in the entry I do not have a way to contact you if you win!)

Cold feet?

About a three years my husband & I sponsored an exchange student from France for the summer. We have kept in touch over the years and she is constantly sending me great stuff (my daughter loves when the "Julie packages" arrive!) So she was telling me about slippers that don't make your feet sweat (I hate socks and have an overall hard time finding breathable slippers) So I looked up her suggestion which was a company called Collegien.  My first thought was "how adorable I must order little miss a pair" then realized I was supposed to be shopping for me! So I ended up ordering the pair shown below and let me tell you I am in love!

Here is a little about the slippers: "Its principle is a registered trademark: a shaped, ergonomic sole, with punched aerating holes, which is injected into the
knitted material. Thanks to its touch of design and fashion, COLLEGIEN invites adults as well as children to make over their homewear with softness and creativity. A home-sweet-home
accessory for everyone, a large range of colours, many different models and styles, quality materials: cushioned cotton, terry cotton, cashmere will treat your feet gently after a whole day wearing shoes"

Want to win? One lucky reader will win one pair of slippers- winners choice :) Contest ends 3/4/11-please leave one comment per entry with a valid email address.

Swim Lesson Update

When my daughter was 6 months old we started swim lessons which was amazing to watch her splash around and giggle. She is now almost 2 and her teacher wants to move her out of mommy & me class into the preschool class. Although it is a huge honor to my daughter (you have to be 3 1/2 to move up) I just don't think I am ready! Sure she can swim and jumps in by herself (sometime I swear she has gills) but to swim with the "big kids" this early is terrifying!
Swimming has definitely changed our lives for sure including my new obsession with swim towels! At first I would wrap her in the infant towels but they were so thin I felt like she wasn't dry at all (I swear a paper towel could of done a better job) I searched all over stores for a nice hooded towel that would not be so long that my daughter would trip. Well I came up with nothing so I started an online search which led me to O'Deliteful on etsy. The towels were very reasonably priced and very cute.  Our towel has lasted many washes and swim lessons and still looks like the day it arrived in the mail. My favorite part about the towel is that the hood part fits my daughter nicely and it is long enough to wrap around her yet does not drag on the floor.
O' Deliteful is supplying one reader with a $9 gift card to the etsy shop. Open to US residents-contest ends 3/3/11. Please leave one comment per entry with a valid email address.

Great travel toy!

So a few years ago we decided to move four hours from home with my husbands job. Well the drive wasn't that bad when it was just the two of us or even when my daughter was a baby and slept the entire drive-ah how I miss those days! Now I have to frantically pack snacks and toys in hopes that we make the drive without any major meltdowns. Last weekend we drove to see the grandparents and I had every song violet the dog sings stuck in my head all weekend....that is it time to find a toy that will last more than five seconds and does not make noise or light up to distract every single driver on the interstate. In my search for sanity I came across Claspy Kids. Here is what the designers of the toy have to say about their product "Claspy is a portable, pocket sized, carbon foot print friendly entertainer for your toddler to preschool level child. It’s the ultimate “go to” toy when you’ve traveling by bus, train, plane or car. It’s the perfect “find” in your pocket or bag to keep your child occupied at restaurants or while waiting for an appointment." The toy has different activities for children as young as 18 months and is small enough to travel.

So I am not sure if this is unique to my toddler but she is bracelet obsessed! Every time she gets a chance in my jewelry box she goes to get out "her bracelets"...after loosing a few too many pieces I have decided to start building up her own collection. While searching I came across Lulu's Funky Tutu's which sells a wide variety of products. The shop has 100% feedback and is very quick to respond with any questions. Winter is back time to get out the gloves & scarf

So we had a few days of really nice weather and it was fantastic! We pulled out the short sleeves and spring coats-even went as far as putting on the rain boots and running around in the mud. Well the snow is back with a vengeance! What a crazy change looks like it is back to dressing in multiple layers and putting on the hat, gloves, and scarf.  I have found some of the most adorable scarves at Furry Fish. The print is fabulous and they look very soft and durable. Now that winter is back I think it is time to order one for my daughter!

Calling all super kids

Ok so my daughters new obsession is super Y-considering she really doesn't watch much tv this is a very big deal because I now get a whole 30 minutes to myself in the morning yay! Well one of the characters in the show wears a cape so of course little miss wanted to get a book club cape. To my surprise I was able to find a girly cape (almost thought she was going to have to wear a super man cape!) A Little of This Jenny came to the rescue so to speak by making a beautiful butterfly cape for my little super hero. The cape is very well made and has had many things spilled on it over the weeks which meant a lot of washing with no fading! I could not be more pleased with the style and ease it is for my daughter to put on and off by herself. It has Velcro so no need for me to have to tie and untie it every time little miss wants to take it off or put it on.

Want to win? A Little of This Jenny is giving one lucky reader a choice of capes from her etsy shop. Open to US readers-contest ends 2/28. Please leave 1 comment per entry with an email address in each comment so I have a way to contact you if you win!

Chapped lips anyone?

One of the worst things about winner is dry skin & chapped lips! My lips get windburned beyond belief but I have never been able to find a nice gloss. I have tried everything including Vaseline and no luck. Imagine my surprise when a cute little thing of lip gloss showed up at my house from She Essential Beauty. Their lip gloss is inspired by the ancient empresses of China and is truly a luxury for your lips (they also make products for the face, body, and home). One of the most interesting facts about the brand is that the products are developed by two licensed acupuncturists using the principles of Chinese medicine.  The products are blended by hand with essential oils to awaken the senses. After using the lip gloss I was amazed at how smooth by lips felt and the way the balm smelled-it is not one of those greasy glosses that clump a few minutes after applying it truly is luxury for your lips!

Want to win? She Essential Beauty would love to give one of you the same lip gloss I had the pleasure of using! Open to US residents-contest ends 2/26. Please let a separate comment for each entry with a valid email.

Another great personalized item

So while flipping through my magazine I noticed a hot new trend...necklaces that are layered with names or initials. My new favorite place is shabby chic designs. Looking for a great personalized gift?

If you are anything like me I love personalized gifts. When my daughter was born I went a little crazy ordering her a billion things with her name on them, birthday, etc. Most of those products did not last because the iron on decal came off within a few washes-highly upsetting and a waste of money! I recently came across a site called Glitterthis.com and was taken in by all the sparkle :) So I though hey lets give this a try and guess what so far so good! The company has been around for 25 years and prides itself on quality. Here is what they have to say about their products "the onesies are durable, allowing you to include them in a normal wash cycle and normal dryer cycle -- over and over and over again -- until the baby outgrows them. They're made of 35% cotton and 65% polyester. They won't shrink, fade or unduly wear. The vinyl glitter and foil are long-lasting and will not rub off, shed or flake." The sparkle that is added is a one of kind process unique to Glitterthis.com. After several weeks of using my daughters shirt it has not faded, cracked,  or left sparkles over everything and came in this adorable bag. Overall a great product for a great price!
Want to win? Glitterthis.com has graciously offered one person a personalized onsie in their choice of color and size. Open to residents in the US- Contest ends 2/24. Please let separate comment for each entry with a valid email address.

Toddler bed antics- pillowcase giveaway from Laugh Rabbit Jr

So as most of you know we have moved my daughter to a toddler bed.  Well we have had our fair share of ups and downs this week with her being sick and her figuring out that she can now get out and run around. Lucky for us she is obsessed with puppies and we find a great way to keep her in bed! Our friends at Laugh Rabbit Jr make the most adorable pillowcases! We have a puppy lover pillow case and my daughter loves sleeping her in bed with all her puppies.  Here is a little more about our sponsor: "I enjoy the creative process of putting needle and thread to material. Whether machine sewing or hand embroidering I like the whole experience - from developing an idea, to picking out the materials to putting in the final stitch. Making children's items is a special joy because they delight in something made just for them. As a mother of six I have been known to call my sewing and stitching time my "sanity time".  Our sponsor also makes adorable bags Laugh Rabbit Designs.
After weeks of washing and using the pillow case I can honestly say that the quality and craftsmanship is remarkable. The material is still super soft after all of the washing and every stitch is still in place.

Amazing new product-Welcome The Greener Route

So if you have a toddler in your house then you probably hear the word snack a zillion times a day! Well we tend to be out a ton and I used so many ziploc bags a day it was getting ridiculous! So I found a great reusable bag from The Greener Route. I know there are many disposable bags out there but the designs and price are hard to beat! I was so excited when I stumbled across the guitar girly bags-my daughter is a huge music fan! Another great thing about the bag is that it is super easy to clean and stays closed (nothing like spilled cheerios to ruin a nice bag) I love the material and that they come in different sizes! Here is a little about our sponsor:  "I am very big on green living. It all started when I made some napkins over a year ago because I was tired of throwing away money. I haven’t bought any paper napkins since. I have expanded into making my own environmentally safe cleaning supplies, composed my kitchen scraps and now reusable snack bags."

Want to win! The Greener Route is giving one lucky person one reusable snack bag (sponsors choice)

Cold Thursday means time for another giveaway!

So it is freezing out and I want spring to get here now! Because I miss spring/summer I am going to giveaway one of my favorite warm weather products-bondiband!  These headbands are beyond amazing and great for a windy day at the beach or a great workout at the gym (now that is a place I have not been in awhile!) Here is what bondiband has to say about their product:
"Bondi bands are a comfy, colorful and creative way to hold your hair back whether you're riding in a convertible, rushing out the door to get your kids, or getting some exercise.  Bondi Bands are an easy fix for your hair.  Check out our wicking fabric bands; they will absorb and evaporate buckets of sweat."
My ultimate favorite part about this headband is that it does not give you headaches! I don't know about you but every time I wear a headband I usually get a headache...either it is too tight around my head or it pushes and indents near my ears. I wore this for 3 days from morning to night and no headache!

Want to win? One lucky fan will win one bondiband (sponsor's choice) Contest ends 2/17/11 at 5pm EST
*please leave email in comment and one comment per entry*

Calling all budding artist!

Welcome our newest sponsor Monicas Crafty Corner! A little background about our sponsor:
"Hi I am a mother of 2 and love to sew. I have been sewing for 20 plus years making quilts, clothes and more for my family and friends."

Monicas Crafty Corner  has some super cute things to offer! My family was lucky enough to review a crayon roll up. These come in all different styles with a starting price of $1.69! As a busy mom on the go I find crayons to be  a life savor and this little pouch was the perfect solution. Have you ever had a crayon melt in your bag? I have which led to me putting them in a plastic bag which caused an even bigger melted mess. I love the individual slots for the crayons that are big enough for a toddler to get the crayons in and out. I have even washed our crayon roll up 4 times with no change in quality! If you have a budding artist this would make a great gift!

Want to win it?
Monicas Crafty Corner  is supplying one winner with a crayon roll up of sponsors choice- ends 2/15 at 5pm EST. Please leave a separate comment for each entry with email address so I know who to contact if you win!

Another cold day

So it is another freezing day here in Indiana. Now don't get me wrong I love the "pretty" snow. You know the snow that is fluffy and white and sparkles in the sun but now I seem to be surrounded by the dirty snow that is hard and icy. On top of that my poor little one has been sick! As you know she has just started potty training and the poor thing has the worst diarrhea and does not want to wear diapers- all of this equals one messy clean up when we don't make it to the bathroom in time. I am hoping that this will be a 24 hour stomach thing and pass quickly as will the freezing weather. i can't wait for spring-I love rain boot & trench coats!

Maricole Design Bib/Burp Cloth Giveaway!

A big thank you to Maricole Designs for sponsoring this Saturday's review & giveaway.  I was lucky enough to receive two toddler pull over bibs to review (see photo below)

These bibs are some of the best I have used- one night we had spaghetti and I decided to do a test and wash the bib without using stain remover and guess what here is what the bib look like today after a week of washing and using!

Not only are these bibs super soft (made of fleece) but they are so easy to get on and off  which is always a battle in our house! Is your child out of the bib stage-no worries Maricole Designs has so many other great things to offer including dolls, backpacks, and blankets!

Want to win?  Winner will receive their choice of bib/burp cloth or 2 bibs

My day in a nutshell-a must read for anyone feeling bad about their day!

Here we go-my day in a nutshell-if anyone out there is having "one of those days" would love to hear it (hey we make each other feel a little better)

So woke up-cat spilled my glass of water in the night into CLEAN laundry...looks like that needs to be redone, sigh
toddler tantrum because she can't eat chocolate frosted donuts for breakfast-crisis over we compromised on fruit loops.  toddler tantrum #2-wants cereal in the red bowl which is the dishwasher which is currently running (I promise you she is the world's greatest she just wants to flex her muscles today)
Morning finally coming to an end and all seems peaceful-we have a friend over for a play date. All is going well they are having a great time and I decide to open a pepsi and sit for a few seconds when my daughter yells "bathroom!" I know what you are thinking-"oh no her daughter had an accident" but that is not even close. I go with my daughter to the bathroom leaving her friend in the playroom one room away. Well my daughter does her thing and here is what I return to....a toddler covered in pepsi, a couch covered in pepsi, a couch covered in pepsi, and the kicker my laptop covered in pepsi! As soon as our little toddler friend looks at me she drops the can adding a carpet now covered in pepsi. So now I am using my husbands laptop...lets just say I am not a PC and he is-why are these buttons in all the wrong place-I need my MAC!!! So ladies (and gentlemen) that is my fine day so far (its only 2) Lets hope it can only go up from here.....
